NegOcc A2 vaccination turnout ‘low’

BACOLOD City – Vaccination against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) among senior citizens (A2 category) in Negros Occidental is low, new data released by the Provincial Health Office (PHO) showed.

Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said they already vaccinated 818,628 or 82.9 percent of the province’s frontline healthcare workers (A1 category).

Those under A3 or persons with comorbidities, meanwhile, already exceeded the rate at 134 percent or 68,623.

However, the A2 category has only reached 36,483 individuals or roughly 30 percent of the target senior citizens of the province.

Diaz said some senior citizens are likely still hesitant, or willing to get vaccinated but possibly concerned about their mobility.

Diaz said the PHO is now working on a strategy to convince senior citizens to get vaccinated.

They are presently working on rolling the vaccines by barangay to entice senior citizens to get the anti-coronavirus jab./PN
