NegOcc, Antique remain under Alert Level 2 – IATF

MANILA – Negros Occidental and Antique will remain under coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) Alert Level 2 beginning today until the end of May, said acting presidential spokesman Martin Andanar.

According to Andanar, the latest alert level statuses were based on the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) resolution approved last night.

“The Alert Level 2 status of (Negros Occidental and Antique) is without prejudice to their respective component cities and municipalities which may otherwise be classified herein,” Andanar said.

Negros Occidental and Antique have been downgraded to COVID-19 Alert Level 2 since the start of March after weeks of being under Alert Level 3.

Iloilo City, Iloilo province, Aklan, Bacolod City, Guimaras, and Capiz retain their COVID-19 Alert Level 1 statuses from May 16 to 31, Andanar further said.

This will be the first full month that Iloilo province is under Alert Level 1, described by the Department of Health as new normal, after months of being under Alert Level 2.

Under the said alert level status, intrazonal and interzonal travel will be allowed regardless of age and comorbidities are now allowed in the province.

All establishments, persons, or activities are permitted to operate, work, or be done at full onsite capacity, provided that health standards are observed.

In person or “face-to-face” classes for basic education will be subject to the approval of the Office of the President.

Meanwhile, Andanar said the component cities in municipalities in Western Visayas that were previously downgraded to Alert Level 1 will keep their classifications for the remainder of the month./PN
