BACOLOD City – The provincial government of Negros Occidental is assessing the damage caused by super typhoon “Odette” to the grandstand of the old Paglaum Sports Complex here.

If the Provincial Engineer’s Office (PEO) will recommend that the facility be closed and demolished because it poses a danger to the public, then they will have to do it, said Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz.

The grandstand houses speech laboratories of the Negros Occidental Language and Information Technology Center (NOLITC).

One of the main steel posts of the stadium was damaged by strong winds, and now poses a danger to the whole structure.

The property custodian also showed photos of parts of the roof damaged by the typhoon.

Diaz said he will wait for the recommendation of the PEO team before taking action of transferring some learning facilities of NOLITC to the Negros CyberCentre./PN
