NegOcc can’t roll out Pfizer vaccines yet

BY DOMINIQUE GABRIEL BAÑAGA

BACOLOD City – Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccines from American pharmaceutical company Pfizer have yet to be rolled out in Negros Occidental.

The provincial government would distribute Pfizer vaccines only after it has utilized all its  jabs from China-based Sinovac, according to Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson.

Also, according to Lacson, given the special storage requirement of the Pfizer vaccine, vaccinations using them will only be administered at the Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital (TLJPH) in Silay City, and the capitol-owned Negros Residences here.

Local government units (LGUs) were ordered to submit lists of their vaccine recipients to the Provincial Health Office.

Priority groups still being vaccinated in Negros are the A1 (frontline health workers), A2 (senior citizens), and A3 (persons with comorbidities).

Last week, Negros Occidental received 1,950 vials of Pfizer vaccines equivalent to 11,700 doses good for the vaccination of 5,850 people./PN
