NegOcc capitol flip-flops, not resuming 5-day workweek yet

BACOLOD City – The provincial government of Negros Occidental has changed its mind. It will wait for the new pandemic classification of the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) on March 16 before resuming the five-day work week.

Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson has not issued an executive order that would allow the resumption to the five-day work week.

Previously, both Lacson and Vice Gov. Jeffrey Ferrer agreed to resume the capitol’s normal workweek by March 1.

Diaz pointed out the reason why they did not proceed – the province remains under Alert Level 2.

“We were hoping that the province would have been downgraded sa Alert Level 1,” Diaz said.

Diaz said they will recommend Lacson to resume to the five-day work week once the province slides to Alert Level 1 or the “new normal” status.

Even though the capitol remains on a four-day work week, Diaz said Friday is the day they usually catch up with any unfinished tasks by adopting a work-from-home arrangement./PN
