BACOLOD City – The Philippine National Police (PNP) in Negros Occidental deployed additional security officers to ensure peaceful and orderly May polls in “weak areas” in the province.
Major Robert Dejucos, La Castellana municipal police station chief, said the 2nd Negros Occidental Provincial Mobile Force Company and Regional Mobile Force sent their personnel to augment police force in La Castellana’s strategic barangays.
“Seal off natin ang weak areas para maging strong and to secure also the areas which have polling centers,” Dejucos stressed.
The deployment was made after the Commission on Elections, PNP and the Philippine Army convened during the district coordinating conference on Thursday.
Dejucos said there are three barangays that could serve as entry areas for rebels and armed groups.
He added the strategic deployment of security forces is a safety precaution to prevent terrorist groups disrupting poll procedures in the local precincts./PN
