BACOLOD City – Vice Gov. Jeffrey Ferrer assured the proposed 2024 budget of Negros Occidental will be approved by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) within the designated timeframe.
Last week, Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson submitted the P5,434,644,700 proposed annual budget to the SP.
Ferrer said yesterday morning that he anticipates the budget hearings will likely take place during the first week of December, following the same schedule as the previous year.
He also mentioned that capitol department heads will appear before the SP to present and defend their respective budget proposals.
Lacson stated that the proposed budget is five percent higher than the current year – a testament to the provincial government’s diligence and commitment in addressing the challenges brought by the coronavirus pandemic.
He highlighted that Negros Occidental has made significant progress in agriculture, industry and commerce, indicating a strong recovery from the pandemic’s impacts.
The governor further noted that the National Tax Allotment for the province has increased by six percent, which will translate into additional projects and programs for the benefit of the constituents. (Watchmen Daily Journal)/PN
