BACOLOD City – The provincial government of Negros Occidental gave P1.1 million worth of farming machines to 13 farmers associations from different cities and municipalities in the province.
Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson led the turnover of floating tiller units to the beneficiary associations during a ceremony held at Negros First Organic Technology Center in Bago City on July 18.
The beneficiaries include Tuy-anan Farmers Association (Don Salvador Benedicto); Camao Farmers SWISA (Calatrava); Canlusong Proper SWISA (E.B. Magalona); Binintigan Farmers and Rural Farm Workers Association (Victorias City); Gloria Ilimnan ARB Farmers Association and Pandanon Silos Farmers Association in Murcia; Sandungao SWISA (Bago City); Siga-siga Agrarian Reform Farmers Association (La Castellana); Hacienda Jardiolin ARB (Moises Padilla); Barangay Culipapa CEMECO SWISA, Daug SWISA and Dangula Culipapa Farmers in Hinoba-an; and Federation of Irrigators Association – Central Negros.
Lacson, in his message, thanked the farmers for their efforts in the implementation of food security and agricultural productivity agenda of the provincial government.
Following the turnover, the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist briefed the beneficiaries on the operation, rules, use, and maintenance of the floating tiller, followed by a machine demonstration.
Floating tiller is a walking-type agricultural tractor commonly used in waterlogged fields. It is equipped with front-mounted tilling wheels and a flotation structure.
It is a multi-purpose farming tool, designed to be portable and simple for fast and efficient land preparation, useful in deep mudded fields./PN
