NegOcc gov’t acquires Mambukal falls property for development

BACOLOD City – The provincial government of Negros Occidental has recently purchased the property inside the Mambukal Resort where the highly popular seven waterfalls are located.

Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said the price of the 10-hectare property was pegged at P80 million.

The waterfalls and the river are now being maintained by the provincial government.

Plans are also being drawn up to develop the property by planting additional trees in the area and introducing additional activities such as hiking, biking, and horseback riding.

The resort hotel’s facility is also being planned for expansion and further improvement in order to accommodate more tourists.

In addition to tourism plans, Diaz stated that water security and protection of the watershed are also included in their purpose for acquiring the property.

The Mambukal Resort and Wildlife Sanctuary in Barangay Minoyan, Murcia town reopened to the public in 2022 after more than two years of closure brought by the coronavirus pandemic.

During its closure, however, the provincial government stepped up its renovation works at the resort and introduced new regulations to protect the flora and fauna inside by declaring it as a wildlife sanctuary. (Watchmen Daily Journal)/PN
