BACOLOD City – The provincial government of Negros Occidental will open several new national and provincial government facilities this January.
Provincial administrator, Atty. Rayfrando Diaz, said the new office of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) and an organic trading post will be opened by Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson next month.
The provincial government spent P33.34 million for the new LTO building in Manayaosayao, Barangay Mansilingan constructed in a lot owned by the provincial government.
As for the old LTO building along the city’s Cottage Road, it will be reconstructed into a multi-use building, possibly CyberCentre 2.
“However, it may need a feasibility study,” Diaz said.
He also said the building can be converted into a half-way house for watchers of patients at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) or an office of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines.
The trading post, meanwhile, will serve as a bagsakan of organic produce from farmers assisted by the provincial government.
The provincial administrator added that next year a shared facility at the compound of the Negros Occidental Food Terminal Market will also be opened./PN
