BACOLOD City – Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson and the Association of Chief Executives (ACE) in Negros Occidental are throwing their full support behind Board Member Richard Julius Sablan’s candidacy as president of the Regional Liga ng mga Barangay in Western Visayas.
This was confirmed by Victorias City Mayor and ACE-NegOcc president Javier Miguel “Javi” Benitez.
In pursuit of an official endorsement, Benitez and Sablan recently met with Lacson at the provincial capitol.
Benitez expressed optimism that Sablan will run unopposed, and if successful, this would mark a historic moment for the province in securing the regional presidency.
The regional election for the Liga ng mga Barangay is set for next month in Iloilo, according to the Department of Interior and Local Government’s calendar of activities and as mentioned by Sablan himself.
Benitez revealed plans to accompany Sablan to Aklan, where they will meet Gov. Florencio Miraflores, Aklan town mayors, and counterparts in the province this Thursday.
Sablan will also be introduced to Guimaras Gov. JC Rahman Nava over the weekend.
Sablan, who ran unopposed in the recent Provincial Liga ng mga Barangay election, aims to bring provincial programs to the regional level.
Currently serving as the Liga President of Victorias City, Sablan is poised to extend his leadership to the broader context. (Watchmen Daily Journal)/PN
