BACOLOD City –The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) has reported that they boast 95.25 percent enrolment in Western Visayas.
In a Media Pasalamat presentation event held Dec. 11 at L’Fisher Hotel here, PhilHealth officials said the number of enrolled members in Western Visayas is at 7,426,010 individuals.
Forty-three percent of the members are indigents or those living in the poverty line, 23 percent are in the formal sector, and 20 are in the informal sector.
Negros Occidental currently has the highest number of memberships with 1,520,478, while Iloilo is second at 1,255,718.
The top medical claims made by PhilHealth members are those involved in treatment of moderate risk pneumonia with 73,400 with a total amount of P1,082,861,538, followed by those suffering from acute gastroenteritis at 24,982 with amounting claims at P144,624,120.
Hemodialysis patients are also getting their claims with PhilHealth with over 129,927 claimants amounting to P636,919,120.
The benefit payment of PhilHealth has also reached to around P7,192,815,566.45 with the top 10 medical and surgical claims constituting 59.83 percent of the total claims payment of Region 6.
Five hospitals in Negros Occidental was also recognized as the top paid facilities in Region 6.
The five were identified as Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, Dr. Pablo O. Torre Sr. Memorial Hospital (Riverside Medical Center), Bacolod Adventist Medical Center, Teresita L. Jalandoni Provincial Hospital, and the San Carlos City District Hospital./PN
