BACOLOD City – Following Monday’s opening of the 1st MassKara sa Panaad, mayors in Negros Occidental are studying the possibility of regularly opening the pavilions of towns and cities at the Panaad Park.

Victorias City mayor Javier Benitez, Negros Association of Chief Executives president, said they are thinking of an event to attract visitors once every month.

“There should be something more regular,” he said.

Benitez proposed the idea to Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson and Bacolod City mayor Alfredo Benitez, and both are open to the idea.

Pavilions run by local government units (LGUs) at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Barangay Mansilingan here are only opened during Panaad sa Negros in the summer months.

The annual Panaad has not been held for two years because of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, and Monday’s opening was both a momentous and joyous occasion for all Negrenses who missed the festivities.

The provincial government announced that the Panaad sa Negros Festival will officially be celebrated again in 2023./PN
