BACOLOD City – Negros Occidental has been placed on “Alert Level 4” by the Department of Health (DOH) in Western Visayas.
DOH data showed that the province’s risk classification was “moderate” with a Hospital Care Utilization Rate (HCUR) of 72.64 percent deemed as “high risk”.
The growth rate in cases in the recent three to four weeks compared to the previous five to six weeks also increased by 74.79 percent.
Data of the province’s health system capacity also showed the COVID beds were 77.86 percent occupied; Intensive Care Unit beds (50 percent); and isolation beds (77.33 percent).
Meanwhile, utilization of mechanical ventilators for COVID-19 patients was at 31.25 percent.
As of Sept. 19, Negros Occidental had 2,845 active COVID-19 cases. Six new fatalities were recorded./PN
