NegOcc on heightened alert due to ‘Crising’

BY DOMINIQUE GABRIEL BAÑAGA

BACOLOD City – Negros Occidental’s Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson yesterday placed the Provincial Disaster Risk Management Program Division (PDRMPD) and the entire Disaster Risk Reduction Management Offices (DRRMOs) in the province on “heightened alert” due to Tropical Depression “Crising”.

Lacson directed the PDMPD and DRRMOs to initiate proactive measures against possible flooding and landslides.

He also ordered concerned offices to review their contingency plans and mitigate possible risks in their respective areas of responsibility.

As of 11 a.m. yesterday, “Crising” weakened into a low pressure area after traversing the southeastern portion of Mindanao.

However, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) warned that the weather disturbance can still bring flash floods and landslides.

Pagasa added that they may issue appropriate local thunderstorm and rainfall advisories./PN
