BACOLOD City – Negros Occidental posted the highest growth rate in Western Visayas in 2021, data from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) showed.
Based on PSA’s report regarding Provincial Product Accounts (PPA) in Western Visayas from 2018 to 2021, Negros Occidental posted a growth of 1.9 percent in points contribution.
Iloilo City and Iloilo province, meanwhile, posted a points contribution of 1.0 percent.
Negros Occidental also posted the highest share in the region’s economy in 2021 with a 26.4 percent share, followed by Iloilo province with 21.7 percent.
Among the highly urbanized cities in Western Visayas, Iloilo City got a 15.1 percent share, followed by Bacolod City with 13.8 percent./PN
