NegOcc ready for influx of returning LSIs

BACOLOD City – The provincial government of Negros Occidental has put in place measures to handle the expected influx of returning locally stranded individuals (LSIs) from other cities and provinces.

Dr. Zeaphard Caelian, Provincial Disaster Management Program Division head, said they set prior coordination to the receiving local government units to ensure that the LSIs travel will be properly arranged.

This came after the National Task Force (NTF) against COVID-19 lifted today the moratorium on travel imposed on LSIs bound for Regions 6, 8, and CARAGA.

However, the movement of LSIs originating from areas under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) or modified ECQ is still prohibited until further notice, according to Department of the Interior and Local Government Region 6 director Juan Jovian Ingenier.

Ingenier revealed that they have been processing the release of LSIs who were at the quarantine facilities, especially their laboratory results.

A temporary suspension on repatriation of LSIs was earlier imposed due to lack of facilities in provinces./PN
