The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) of Negros Occidental urged the Department of Public Works and Highways to conduct another feasibility study to determine the best site to construct the proposed Negros-Guimaras Bridge.

Negros Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer did not oppose placing the bridge entry point in the town of Pulupandan, but suggested other sites to the DPWH.

The town of Valladolid was one suggestion by Ferrer, pointing out its seawall already in place, as well as its roads which could accommodate four lanes and land with no households or private properties. Other proposals were also given to bypass Guimaras altogether and build a bridge directly to Panay island.

Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said the proposed Negros-Guimaras bridge project is still alive, although it was temporarily shelved as funds for construction was redirected to the COVID-19 response.| via Dominique Bañaga/PN
