BACOLOD City – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is reminding commercial establishments in Negros Occidental to follow the suggested retail prices (SRPs) for school items.

Days ahead of the opening of classes in public schools on June 3, DTI issued the reminder as parents and their children flock to stores to buy school items

Romel Amihan, senior trade and industry development specialist of DTI-Negros Occidental, said they are monitoring various establishments including malls, department stores, and public market stalls as of Wednesday.

“The monitoring team is checking the price compliance for products included in the “Gabay sa Pamimili ng School Supplies” issued by DTI central office,” said Amihan.

He noted a show cause order based on the DTI guidelines will be issued against erring establishments.

“Those found violating the SRPs will be formally charged with profiteering, which is provided under the Price Act,” Amihan warned. (With a report from PNA/PN)
