BACOLOD City – The Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation of Negros Occidental has a new president.

The 22-year-old Mayvelyn Madrid, SK chairperson of Barangay 5, San Carlos City, ran unopposed.

After yesterday’s elections, Madrid and other newly-elected SK Federation officers took their oath of office before Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson.

Other officers are Trisha Mae Majan, vice president; Remar Lascano, secretary; Cheska Gwyneth Lopez, treasurer; Jhon Mhil Acerada, auditor; Kierly Villanueva, public relations officer; and Gemnell Versoza and Steven Mellama, sergeant-at-arms.

Among the programs she is now lining up upon her assumption as an ex-officio member of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) include free printing services for students to minimize school expenses, as well as uniting all youth and SK groups in the province.

For his part, Lacson said the United Negros Alliance and Love Negros have agreed that the SK Federation president should hail from San Carlos City.

He added that the Liga ng mga Barangay president, who will also sit as an ex-officio member of the SP, must come from Victorias City.

The Liga ng mga Barangay will hold their elections on Dec. 15. (Watchmen Daily Journal)/PN
