SAN JOSE, Antique – The establishment of the Negosyo Centers (NCs) in the 18 towns of the province has boosted the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Antique’s business name registration, the agency’s information officer Lynna Joy Cardinal said.
Cardinal on Thursday added that from Jan. to Nov this year, they have registered 1,047 business names – of which 792 were newly registered and 255 were renewals.
“With the NCs established in all 18 municipalities of the province, the local businessmen were encouraged to register their businesses,” Cardinal said.
Although they no longer expect more businessmen to apply as the year is about to end, the 1,047 business name registration is already high, she added.
“For the entire year in 2018, there were 1,405 applications for business name registration then composed of 1,106 new and 299 renewal,” Cardinal said.
She added the lesser number of business name registrations this year can be attributed to the fact that numerous businessmen in the province already had their registrations.
“The DTI business name registration is then valid for five years,” she said.
Cardinal added most of the registrations in the province were then applied for by the businessmen within their municipalities.
“In 2016, when the first NCs were established, the business name registration reached 1,402 of which 1,202 were new business registrations and the remaining 200 as renewal,” she said.
The business name registration in 2017 has increased to 1,900 – of which 1,672 were new and 228 were renewals.(With a report from PNA/PN)
