MANILA – Living Stones International Schools’ Mary Angeline Alcantara achieved her fifth consecutive gold medal after a successful showcase of her wares in the 2020 National CPJ Taekwondo Championships held at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall in Pasay City.
Alcantara, the Hanah Taekwondo Gym standout and a gold medal victor during the 2017 World Cadet Taekwondo Championships, dominated the Junior Women’s bantamweight (44-46 kgs) division.
Her teammates also hauled medals in the competition. Joshua Emmanuel Deita finished with a silver medal in the lightweight category (45-49 kgs), while first-timer Francesse Kaye Nualda also settled for the same prize in the Cadet Girls’ bantamweight (33-37 kgs).
Another newbie, Dondy Santillan, took home bronze in the Grade School Boys’ fin weight (26 kgs and below).
Among other Hanah jins who saw action in the tournament were Ashley Chavez, Ethan Chavez, and Rolyn Jan Tolentino.
The two-day event taekwondo event, exclusive for the Philippine Taekwondo Association (PTA) black belters, was sponsored by PLDT, Meralco, Philippine Sports Commission, Philippine Olympic Committee, Milo and Inspire Sports Academy./PN
