Negrense Aguillon sprints her way to Asean School Games

ILOILO City – Negrense sprinter Krisha Dedoyco Aguillon emerged as the fastest girl in the National Invitational Sports Competition athletics on Monday at the Iloilo Sports Complex.

Aguillon, a standout from Bacolod Tay Tung High School athletics team, sprinted her way to the 2022 ASEAN School Games after ruling the girls 100 meter dash event.

The Bacolod City runner finished the race at 12.88 seconds, beating Krisleen Shane Santiago of Region 4A who had 13.08 seconds, and Leonilyn Compuesto of Region V who tallied 13.15 seconds. 

Ilongga Edna Magtubo, meanwhile, bounced back from a silver medal finish on Sunday after chipping in two gold medals in the girls 1500 meter and 800 meter dash.

Magtubo, a standout of Batad National High School, topped the 1500 meter event at five minutes and 1.07 seconds, and the 800 meter at 21.73 seconds.

Calinog, Iloilo native Kent Francis Jardin, meanwhile, captured a gold in the boys triple jump event and ended up with silver medal in boys 100 meter dash.

Aklanon Jan Raynald Ote and Negrense Airex Gabriel Villanueva had a 1-2 finish in the boys discus throw with the former tallying 43.17 meters and the latter submitting 41.39 meters.

Christine Dayanan captured bronze medal in the girls 400 meter hurdles, while Rhealyn Decosta and Kezhia Mae Martinez also bagged bronze in girls discus throw and 400 meter dash.

Negrense John Mark Martir, representing the National Capital Region, also earned two ASEAN School Games qualification in the boys 1500 meter dash and boys 800 meter event.

The Bago City, Negros Occidental-native and Adamson University Falcons team member, topped the 1500 meter at four minutes and 17 seconds, while finishing with silver in 800 meter./PN
