Negrense Aguillon, Villaran claim golds in Palaro 2024

CEBU City – Negrenses Krisha Dedoyco Aguillon and Mico Villaran ruled their respective athletic events in the 2024 Palarong Pambansa over the weekend at the Cebu Sports Complex here.

Aguillon, an incoming recruit of the Ateneo de Manila University athletics team, made her presence felt for Western Visayas as she topped the secondary girls 100-meter event.

Villaran of the Romanito P. Maravilla National High School secured his second gold medal of the competition as he topped the secondary boys 400-meter hurdles. He previously won the secondary boys 110-meter hurdles gold.

Ilonggo Charles Daniel Turla also captured his second Palaro gold medal after ruling the elementary boys shot put in 10.85 meters. He earlier captured the gold medal in javelin throw event.

Tigbauan’s Franklin Catera also bagged a gold medal in the secondary boys high jump event, while Ilongga Princess Mae Lachica won a gold as well in elementary girls 200-meter event.

Capturing silvers are Iloilo’s Dan Baladia (elementary boys 400-meter hurdles), Ayena Cabalfin (elementary girls 200-meter run), and Kent Burdan (secondary boys 200-meter run), Aklan’s Neyo Sarabia (secondary boys shot put) and Rachel Malayas (elementary girls long jump), and Capiz’s Shakiera Atordido (secondary girls javelin throw).

Winning bronze medals are Iloilo’s Jhon Masuhol, Jose Posanso, Kent Burdan, Jovelyn Labaroza, Shane Bullos, Ayena Cabalfin, and Rowel Ectana, and Capiznon Angel Villagracia.

Negrense swimmer Alexi Kouzenye Cabayaran emerged with two gold medals in the secondary girls 50-meter backstroke before nailing the 4×500 freestyle relay with Juliana Dejilla, Leanne Clarisse Caspillo, and Julia Sohlen Orada.

Zyra Villarino of Victorias Elementary School, meanwhile, captured a gold in elementary girls 400-meter freestyle and settled for silver in 4×50-meter freestyle relay with Illymari Ceniza, Ashriel Gangoso, and Savannah Secuelan.

Maxene Hayley Uy, meanwhile, added two silver medals to her medal haul as she landed second in secondary girls 200-meter backstroke and 4×100-meter relay with Dee Vianne Catedrilla, Candace Franco, and Nuche Ibit.

Ceniza, Gangoso, Secuelan, and Milkshake Panagsagan also won a bronze in the elementary girls 4×50-meter relay, while Stacey Arabella Bee also ended with bronze in secondary girls 1500-meter freestyle.

Christian Pelione and King Lanz Pamplona bagged a gold medal in secondary boys blitz team event, while Pelione also won a silver medal in the secondary boys individual blitz, and John Cedric Ortaliz won a bronze in elementary boys blitz.

Lexi Mikayla Marcella and Bethany Adriel Esmeňo won a gold medal in the elementary girls table tennis doubles, while Dirk Nhickolle Atilano and Josh Paolo Canalin captured a bronze in secondary boys table tennis doubles.

In gymnastics, Therese Ann Sarabia, Gaea Francesca Suguilon, and Sarah Lee Thompson captured a silver medal in secondary girls gymnastics WAG team championship event./PN
