NEGRENSE boxer Roldan Aldea will fight for the WBA-Asia super featherweight championship against Junior Kauko Raka of Papua New Guinea this weekend at the St. John Guise Stadium Indoor Complex in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.
This will be the first match of the Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental-native Aldea after scoring a second-round stoppage win against fellow Filipino Monico Laurente in February 2021.
Aldea, a former Philippine Games and Amusements Board lightweight champion, prepared hard for the title clash. He is hoping to finish off Raka via stoppage.
âI am ready na for this fight. As much as possible, I am hoping for a stoppage victory since ang makakalaban ko ay taga-rito sa Papua New Guinea,â the 27-year-old Aldea said.
âWe really opted to go here ahead of schedule since we know na kapag dumating dito ay mayroon pang COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) quarantine at para maka-ensayo pa after ng quarantine,â he added.
Aldea, who is from the Elorde International Promotions of Gabriel Elorde, was accompanied by fellow Negrense Allan Vallespin, who got lost to Raka two years ago.
Aldea will be entering the match with a 15-8-1 win-loss-draw ring record including nine stoppage victories. The Negrense was a victor in three of his last four bouts.
The 28-year-old Raka, on the other hand, has a perfect 2-0-0 record, all of which were via stoppage. This will be his first match after beating Indonesian Rafael Dimara in 2019.
In the co-main event, Filipino boxer Mark Sales will try his luck as he tangles with Andrew Aisanga of Papua New Guinea in a six-round non-title clash in the welterweight division.
The 39-year-old Sales will enter the game with a 23-43-5 boxing record including eight knockout wins. The 28-year-old Aisanga, on the other hand, has fought once in his career and won it via stoppage./PN
