BACOLOD City – Negrense baller Dyna Nieves decided to pursue her collegiate career with the Ateneo de Manila University Lady Eagles.
The former University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos (UNO-R) standout said her heart chose the Lady Eagles over numerous University Athletic Association of the Philippines schools wanting her services.
“I was still in Grade 9 or 10 when Ateneo first approached. I was not ready to commit that time,” Nieves told Panay News.
“I was supposed to commit (na) to another school last January because akala ko hindi na sila (Ateneo) interested sa akin. But they invited me to go to Manila to see the campus. Dun na po (ako) nag-decide to play for the school,” added the two-time Palarong Pambansa runner-up representing Region 6.
The five-foot-11 Nieves – played as center for UNO-R – said she is ready to adjust if ever the Lady Eagles want her to play the small forward or power forward position.
“I am really looking forward to grow and improve with the team. We have big plans we hope to accomplish little by little,” she added.
