MANILLA – Filipino fighter Genesis Servania got back on the winning track.
He scored a first round stoppage win over Indonesian boxer Ahmad Lahizab at the Takeda Teva Ocean Arena in Nagoya, Japan.
The quick victory was a bounce back for the Bacolod City, Negros Occidental native after losing to Carlos Castro for the WBC Continental Americas super bantamweight belt in February.
Servania was the busier fighter since the start with multiple combinations until he dropped Lahizab with a solid punch.
The Indon fighter tried to continue but the referee stopped the match.
“I am still slowly regaining my form,” Servania said. “Sa ngayon medyo kulang pa but I am hoping na makabalik tayo sa title fights by the end of the year.”
With the victory, the 28-year-old Servania improved his boxing record to 33-2-0 win-loss-draw. Also, 16 of his victories came by way of stoppages.
The 20-year-old Lahizab dropped his record to 4-9-1, including one knockout win. This was also his third consecutive loss./PN
