MANILA – Filipino fighter Warlito Parreñas tallied his second straight win as he scored a first round stoppage win over Thai Jissit Singthton at Kawanishi in Osaka, Japan.
It was the second fight of the Cadiz City, Negros Occidental-native boxer since suffering a technical knockout loss to Naoya Inoue for the WBO world super flyweight belt on December 2015.
On Sunday night, Parreñas was a busy fighter since the start with multiple combinations until he dropped Singthton with a left hook.
The Thai went down anew seconds later with another left.
Singthton tried to battle back but he was send down anew by Parreñas with a right straight forcing the referee to end the match at the 2:15 mark.
“I am still slowly regaining my fighting form dahil matagal rin tayong nabakante,” Parreñas told Panay News in an online chat. “Sa ngayon medyo kulang pa but I am hoping na makabalik tayo sa title fights by the end of the year.”
With the victory, the 34-year-old Parreñas improved his boxing record to 26-7-1 win-loss-draw.
Also, 23 of his victories came by way of stoppages.
The 21-year-old Singthton dropped his record to 8-6-0, including three knockout wins, with the loss./PN
