MANILA – Negrense boxer Carlo Caesar Peñalosa aims to stretch his winning run as he battles Thai boxer Watana Phenbaan in a non-title bout tonight at the SM City North Edsa Skydome in Quezon City.
Peñalosa, who is from San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, is eyeing his seventh straight victory since his shock split decision defeat to Reymark Taday in February 2017.
The boxer is on a roll and has won all of his three matches last year against Indonesians Rio Nainggolan and Iwan Key and Tanzanian Jemsi Kibazange via stoppages.
The 25-year-old Peñalosa will be entering the ring with an impressive 13-1-0 win-loss-draw ring record, including six stoppage wins, while Phenbaan had 18-5-0 card, with 11 knockout wins.
Ilonggo Jenel Lausa, meanwhile, stakes his unbeaten record of 7-0-1 win-loss-draw (including four stoppage wins) when he battles veteran Filipino fighter Rolly Llino (5-15-1).
This will be the second bout of Concepcion, Iloilo native Lausa since his boxing return after spending the last three years as a mixed martial arts fighter of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
In the undercard bout, Bacolod City native Ruben Traza (4-12-4, 1 knockout win) makes his boxing return after two years when he tangles with newcomer John Mark Tihuk (1-0-1).
The 36-year-old Traza was on a losing skid prior to his brief retirement. He dropped eight of his last nine matches. In between that, the Bacolodnon forces a draw with fellow Negrense Diomel Diocos in 2015./PN
