MANILA – Negrense jin Ceanne Kyle Rosquillo of the National University Bulldogs bagged two medals in the UAAP Season 84 Poomsae Tournament at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Rosquillo, a product of Negros Taekwondo Union-Tigers New Gen, was solid in his UAAP debut. He captured a silver medal in the male individual poomsae event.
The Bago City, Negros Occidental native later teamed up with Laeia Simoune Soria to take home the bronze medal in the mixed poomsae pair category.
“I want to thank the Lord. Without His presence, this humble achievement will never be like this. As we offer our best in this competition, You were there to help keep our composure specially when everything else felt like a downfall,” he wrote.
He added: “It was a good experience…I do believe we can achieve everything next time around. Let’s train more to really snatch that crown next time.”
Capiznon taekwondo jin Mikee Rose Regala also made her presence felt in her UAAP debut with the De La Salle University Green Archers Taekwondo team.
Regala, a former standout of Roxas, Capiz-based Venancio Taekwondo Academy, garnered a silver medal in Pair Poomsae and bronze medal in Team Poomsae event.
Ilonggo jins Joshua Cachero of the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons and Elaine Margaret Borres of Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles had respectable finish in their collegiate debuts.
Cachero, a mainstay of Iloilo Mark V Pinggol Taekwondo gym, ranked fourth place in the Men’s Team Poomsae and fifth place in the Individual Men’s Poomsae.
Borres, a product of the A. Diasnes Taekwondo Gym, had a fourth place finish in the Individual Women’s Poomsae and Mixed Pair Poomsae events./PN
