ILOILO City – It was a rare case, but it happened.

A suspected cellphone thief was caught by his victim on Mabini Street.

Omar San recovered his gadget, a Cherry Mobile Flare S Play, from Mark Parreño, a 24-year-old resident of Barangay 19, Victorias City, Negros Occidental, a police report showed.

San, 36, of Valeria Street Extension was closing Helen and Bodie store at the Iloilo Terminal Market when he saw Parreño took his phone placed on top of a soda case and ran toward Mabini Street, police said.

This incident at around 8 p.m. on Sept. 7 led to a chase that saw San catching Parreño, the police report stated.
Parreño was turned over to Police Station 1 and hauled to their custodial facility./PN
