MANILA – Negrense hitter Marite Espina will finally make her appearance with the De La Salle University (DLSU) Lady Spikers in Season 82 of the Women’s Volleyball slated on Feb. 16.
The Silay City-native was included in the Lady Spikers’ final roster after recovering from a knee injury that forced her to sit out for the entire Season 81 last year.
“I am really excited to play for DLSU kasi dream school ko po ito and I am also determined kasi hindi ako nakalaro last year,” said the former Living Stones International School star.
Espina will be one of the eight rookies for DLSU this season aside from Negros Oriental’s Baby Jane Soreno, Thea Gagate, Leila Cruz, Mereophe Sharma, Alister Borabo and Justine Nazareno.
Meanwhile, the Ilongga Aduke Ogunsanya will serve as the team captain with veterans Ernestine Tiamzon, Carmel Saga, Jolina dela Cruz, Marionne Alba and Michelle Cobb also returning.
The Lady Spikers will aim to improve from their third place campaign last season after the University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses woke them up from their finals dream./PN
