DETERMINED to bounce back from its runner-up finish last year, University of Perpetual Help Lady Altas have beefed up its roster for the NCAA Season 95 women’s volleyball campaign by securing the commitment of Negrense Krisha Cordero.
The Talisay, Negros Occidental native caught the attention of Lady Altas head coach Sinfronio Acaylar after seeing her play for the Living Stones International School in Bacolod City.
The 18-year-old Cordero admitted that getting a chance to play for the Lady Altas was a dream come true for her and is hoping to help the many-time NCAA women’s volleyball champions.
“It doesn’t feel real. Hindi ko inakala na I can play sa NCAA especially sa Perpertual,” Cordero said. “NCAA was just a dream for me and I thought it was just something na hindi ko maaabot so I am thankful to Perpetual for giving me a chance.”
She added: “One thing I can promise to my new team is that magtre-train pa ako nang maigi kasi alam ko I am still far from them. I will accept all the corrections from the coaches para mag-improve pa ako lalo.”
The arrival of Cordero was timely for the Lady Altas following the graduation of former main hitter Cindy Imbo, who was instrumental in leading Perpetual Help to a Cinderella finish before losing to Arellano University Lady Chiefs in the finals.
Not only in college, the Perpetual Help have also shore up its high school girls volleyball team when it secure the commitment of Cordero’s schoolmates Kristine Umbao, Love Joy Mejorada and siblings Shanine and Fairly Pretta.
Perpetual Help also captured players from Living Stones for its men’s team in college-bound Patrick Dama and high school players Laurence Alaban and Rhondaon Duot./PN
