MANILA – Sophie Cagalawan displayed another solid performance as San Beda University Lady Red Spikers A ruled the ABCamp Volleyball League on Thursday at the Bakakeng Central Gym in Baguio City.
The former Bacolod Tay Tung High School Thunderbolts was named Most Valuable Player and 1st Best Outside Hitter as the Lady Red Spikers A prevailed over San Beda University Lady Red Spikers B.
“I am just doing my best each and every game to help our team win,” Cagalawan said. “Of course, this is not possible without the help and guidance of our coaching staff and the trust of my teammates.”
“Basta, I will continue to improve my game, in our trainings and in actual game, so that I can help San Beda sa NCAA,” she added. “Ang goal naman talaga namin is to have a good showing sa NCAA.”
This was the second MVP citation after also winning the same award in the Lady Red Spikers’ championship run in the 1st Manila Women’s Cup volleyball event two weeks ago.
Aside from Cagalawan, two other members of the Lady Red Spikers A squad came from Western Visayas namely Reyann Cañete (Best Opposite Hitter) and Jaschryl Casugod.
Other members of the Lady Red Spikers A are Andrea Bernal (1st Best Middle Blocker), Katleya Molina (Best Setter), Rianne Bedural, Rea Hadlocon, Jessi Umali, Max Lotivio, Mikay Flores, and Chynna Castillo
Meanwhile, a number of Negrense volleybelles are also rostered in the Lady Red Spikers B in former Thunderbolts’ Gwen Bañas (Best Libero), Patricia Hiponia, Amber Biong,and Jermaine Joniega, and Sophia Katrina dela Cruz.
Completing the Lady Red Spikers B are Angel Habacon (2nd Best Outside Hitter), Jayde Dela Cruz, Erin Navarro, Marielle Teves, Janelle Bachar, Elijah Fernandez, and Isabel Viray./PN
