Davao City native John David Velez, meanwhile, captured the boys’ singles title over compatriot Rupert Ohrelle Tortal 6-1, 5-7, 6-1 while Tortal and Brent Cortes clinched the men’s doubles crown.
“I am happy with the overall performance of the kids. We won all events. They worked hard for this and got the reward,” Philippine delegation head coach Roland Kraut said in an online interview.
“Alexa had a tough test (in singles finals). She actually was up 6-3, 5-5 serving at 40-15, but she wasn’t able to hold and lost the set. But she had a good start in the third set and never looked back,” he added./PN
