MANILA – Negrense guard Mark Nonoy and Vince Deo Cuajao wanted to remain with the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Growling Tigers while Rhenz Abando is reportedly considering moving out of the squad.
Jax Chua of Phenom Sports Management, who handles the careers of Nonoy and Cuajao, said they are waiting for the verdict of UST’s internal investigation on the “Sorsogon Bubble” but wanted his two players to stay with the Growling Tigers.
“Mark and Deo have no plans to leave UST,” Chua told Panay News. “I must admit there were numerous schools who were inquiring about them, but I want them to stay with UST.”
“Wala naman kaming problem with how (Tigers head) coach Aldin (Ayo) treated them. “Even there in Sorsogon, they were well taken care of naman,” added Chua, who also owns the Basilan Steel team in Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League.
Beninese center and reigning UAAP MVP Soulemane Chabi Yo as well as three-point gunner Sherwin Concepcion have also expressed their desire to return for the Growling Tigers.
Abando, meanwhile, is not yet committed on whether to stay with the UST as he has reportedly serious offer from defending NCAA champions Colegio de San Juan de Letran Knights.
Panay News learned from a source that the Knights were determined to acquire the services of Abando that they were contacting him even when the latter was in Sorsogon.
For Abando, this was not his first time to be linked in school-transfer rumors after being allegedly pirated before by the National University Bulldogs midway in the UAAP Season 82 men’s basketball./PN
