MANILA – Negrense boxer Carlo Caesar Peñalosa pummeled Thai boxer Watana Phenbaan en route to a third round knockout win on Saturday night at the SM City North Edsa Skydome in Quezon City.

It was the eighth consecutive victory of the San Carlos City, Negros Occidental native since suffering a shock split decision defeat to Reymark Taday on February, 2017.

Peñalosa has been dominant since the opening round as he dismantles the defense of Phenbaan with his combinations. It was the same scenario for the Negrense in the second frame as his punches penetrates the defense of the Thai.

Peñalosa went for the kill in the third round as he pummeled Phenbaan with straights and combinations before dropping his opponent for good with a strong right hook to the body.

The 25-year-old boxer has improved his impressive record to 14-1-0 win-loss-draw ring record, including seven stoppage wins, while Phenbaan dropped to 18-6-0 card, with 11 knockout wins.

Ilonggo boxer Jenel Lausa, meanwhile, has maintained his unbeaten record of 8-0-1 win-loss-draw (including four stoppage win) with a split decision victory over Rolly Llino (5-16-1).

The Concepcion, Iloilo native had the numbers of Llino early in the game and even scored a knockdown but the latter showed his way late in the match to settle for a close loss.

In the undercard bout, Bacolod City native Ruben Traza (4-13-4, 1 knockout win) was unsuccessful in his boxing return after two years after a unanimous decision loss to newcomer John Mark Tihuk (2-0-1)./PN
