Negrense spikers wallop Region 9 in nat’l PRISAA

THE WVPRISAA secondary girls volleyball team cruised to its second straight win in the PRISAA 2019 National Games after a 25-8, 25-9 sweep over Region 9 on Tuesday at the University of Mindanao-Matina Campus in Davao City.

Led by Katherine Cortez, Alyssa Bertolano, Shane Carmona, Joan Marie Monares, Erika Deloria and Gwen Banas,  the WVPRISAA jumped to an early lead in the opening set to easily build a 2-0 edge.

In the second set, it was the turn of second unit, led by Rhean Almendralejo, Beatrice Decena, Aurea Alvero, Nicolei Galvan, Chris Ann Susbilla, Kiesha Bedonia, Nikha Cabasac and Dya Mejos to carry the fight for WVPRISAA for a straight set romp.

“The girls were just able to follow our system well and all of them contributed in their own little way,” said assistant coach Roberto Calamba. “The situation allowed us to try other combinations on the floor.”

The Bacolod Tay Tung High School Thunderbolts-represented WVPRISAA will return to action this morning against Region 5 before closing their Group A match against Region 11 on Thursday.

In secondary boys basketball, the WVPRISAA, represented by Hercor College Junior Jaguars, kicked off its campaign with a 77-60 domination over Region 12 on Monday afternoon.
