BACOLOD City – A resident of La Carlota City in Negros Occidental topped the September 2021 Physician Licensure Exam.
Maria Inez Benedicto attained a rating of 87.83 percent, sharing the top spot with Jude Philip Cebrecus from Cebu Institute of Medicine.
Benedicto was a valedictorian of the West Visayas State University (WVSU)-College of Medicine in Iloilo City.
She also graduated magna cum laude with the degree of Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology at the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos in 2015, and ranked 7th in the Medical Technology Licensure Exams that year.
Benedicto was a daughter to Richard and Marisol, and a younger sister to Sangguniang Panlalawigan member Baste.
The entire La Carlota fetes Benedicto, according to Mayor Rex Jalando-on.
Meanwhile, WVSU ranked fourth among top-performing schools in the country with a passing rate of 90 percent (72 out of 80 examinees passed)./PN
