MANILA – Negrense forward Gerardo “Jinggoy” Valmayor will be one of the eight players that will bolster the Stallion Laguna FC ahead of the 2019 Philippine Premier League next month.
The San Carlos City, Negros Occidental native is expected to be an added boost for the Laguna-based football squad in its bid to have a better showing in the tournament.
This will be the fourth football club of Valmayor, a former standout of the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons, after previously playing for Pachanga FC, Loyola Meralco Sparks FC and Global Cebu FC.
Other newcomers for Stallion Laguna this season are Philippine Azkals goalkeeper Patrick Deyto, Daniel Gadia, Andoni Suescan, Selu Lozano, Michael Sims, and brothers Mario Javier and Ian Clariño.
Holdovers from last year’s roster were Ilonggos Jan Jesus Melliza, and Ruben Doctora Jr., Negrense Benito Rosalia, Nathan Alquiros, Anton Amistoso, Fitch Arboleda, Nicholas Ferrer, Matthew Nierras, and Hayeson Pepito.
Also returning for the Ernest Nierras-mentored Stallion Laguna were Darwin Regala, Reynald Villareal, Gino Clarino, Jowarren Bedia, BeeJay Gonzales, Abou Sy, Joshua Kim, Deonghyeon Kim, and Jongmili Kang.
“I am happy with our new players,” said Stallion-Laguna head coach Ernest Nierras. “What we are looking for during the tryouts are players with the right attitude, fitness and smarts to play professional football and we saw that with these players.”
