MANILA – Philippine Air Force FC relied on its Negrense players to pull off a 3-2 victory over Global Makati FC in the 2019 Philippines Football League at the Biñan Football Stadium in Laguna.
Negrenses Dar Poderoso, Mark Anthony Ferrer and Rodolf Bebanco each converted their shots on Saturday to help the Air Force tally its first-ever victory in its return to professional football.
After early misses the Air Force broke the deadlock at the 20th minute following a conversion from Poderoso.
It went up to 2-0 just before the break after a goal from Ferrer.
Negrense Jerry Barbaso pulled one back for Global Makati early in the second half before pushing for a game-tying goal but could not afford to penetrate the defense of the Air Force.
The Air Force put an end of their opponent’s chase with a 90th minute goal from Bebanco before Global Makati settled for a one-goal defeat on a hit from Marvin Bricenio.
With the outcome, the Air Force rises to sixth spot in the standings with four points on one win, one draw and eight losses. Global Makati dropped to seventh with three points on one win and six losses./PN
