BACOLOD City – To rebuke atrocities perpetrated by the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) and its armed wing, New People’s Army (NPA), village officials and anticrime forces here staged an indignation rally.
“This rally is intended to bring awareness to the people of the evil acts behind deception and lies of the communist rebels,” Major Edison Garcia, information officer of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office said.
According to Garcia, the rally was held as CPP-NPA celebrates its 51st founding anniversary today.
More than 500 individuals join in the
indignation rally, which was held at the Old Bacolod City Hal in this city
yesterday morning.
Two former NPAs spoke against their previous affiliation and encouraged the
attendees especially parents to protect their children against recruitment by
the party-list organizations under the CPP, since the youth are the main
targets of the terrorist organization.
A video presentation was shown to the attendees showing the deceit, atrocities
and criminal activities of the NPAs over their 51 years of existence.
Colonel Inocencio Pasaporte, 303rd Infantry Brigade Commander, lauded the
effort of the people of Negros Occidental particularly the city government in
condemning the communists guerillas.
“Wala rason para mag saulog ang CPP sang ila nga anibersaryo tungod ang bilog nga pumuluyo sang Negros nakahibalo na sang kamatuoran kag indi lipod
sa ila ang kahalitan kag perwisyo nga nahatag sang NPA sa sulod sang lima ka dekada,” Pasaporte said.
The city government earlier joined other local government units in the province in rejecting CPP-NPA’s presence through a resolution declaring the communist rebels persona non grata (unwelcomed persons)./PN
