NEGRENSE student athletes continued its gold medal haul in the athletics events of the 2019 Batang Pinoy Visayas Qualifying leg on Tuesday at the Iloilo Sports Complex.
Franzine Alamo of Negros Occidental captured the gold medal in girls triple jump event. Fellow Negros Occidental representative Vannesa Jane Dalisay took home the bronze medal.
Bacolod City’s Aubrey Mae Mercado took home the gold medal in the girls 400-meter dash. Negros Occidental’s Brineth Cupan settled for a silver medal while Bacolod City’s Shaltea Delotavo fell short of a medal finish.
Mercado was able to snag her second gold medal after ruling the girls 4×100-meter relay along with Delotavo, Athena Besana, and Krisha Dedoyco Aguillon, who herself was also a double gold winner after bagging the 100-meter dash on Monday.
Radsney Marie Diega of Victorias City clinched the gold medal in the 3000-meter dash with a clocking of 11:57.2, while Negros Occidental’s Joyce Satia is at second with 12:03.7.
Marden Villaruel, meanwhile, finished with silver medal in boys 400-meter dash, while Rhyza Vaflor of Escalante City also had a silver medal finish in the girls 2000-meter walk.
In swimming, Riana Montelibano of Negros Occidental ruled the girls 12 and under 100-meter freestyle, while fellow Negrenses Samantha Secuelan and Earl Buncio have bronze medals in 13-15 200-meter individual medley and 13-15 free style, respectively.
Meanwhile, Iloilo City’s Hans Inego Parreño and Dave Vincent Llorico have silver and bronze finishes in boys 12 and under boys 200-meter individual medley, while Jean Perez had silver in 13-15 girls 200-meter individual medley.
Gabrielle Barlin of Iloilo City and Jhanna Neri of Bacolod City have silver and bronze in girls 13-15 100-meter freestyle, while Iloilo City’s Kaelan Garzon and Bacolod City’s Ricardo Quilop has silvers in freestyle events.
Antique’s Guiliver Clive Clemente, meanwhile, captured his second swimming gold after ruling the boys 400-meter individual medley. The Antiqueno won the 200-meter individual medley gold on Monday.
Iloilo City was able to snag two golds in rapid chess with Kimberly Colaste and Checy Telesforo ruling the girls under 12 and under 15 event, respectively. Fellow IIonggos Gil Casa Jr. finished second in under-15 boys and Anton Bebit had bronze in under 12.
Guimaras chipped in a rapid chess silver from Wenseal Magoliman in girls under-15 event while Kith Magoliman took bronze in under-15 boys. Bacolod City’s Christian Pelione finished with silver in under-12 boys.
In girls volleyball, Iloilo City have showed its dominance after bagging two straight wins at the expense of defending champions Bacolod City (18-25, 25-23, 15-13) and Negros Occidental (25-23, 25-13)./PN
