Negrenses warned of 9-12 hours weekend brownout

BACOLOD City – Power interruptions are scheduled today (March 7) and tomorrow (March 8) in parts of Negros Occidental and this city.

According to Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco), there will be maintenance activities today from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Sum-ag Feeder 2.

The maintenance aims to ensure the reliability of distribution lines to avoid further serious damage that could result to major power interruptions, said Ceneco officer-in-charge Jose Taniongon.

On the other hand, the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines informed member-consumers of Negros Occidental Electric Cooperative of maintenance activities on Sunday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Sipalay substation.

In another development, Ceneco is scheduled to hold an election for new members of the board of directors in six districts of its franchise area on March 14 and 21.

Roel Venus, chief of Ceneco Member-Consumer Integrated Services Division, said the election in District 1-Bacolod North, District VI-Bago City and District IX-Silay City will be on March 14 while that in District IV-Bacolod East, District V-Bacolod West and District VIII-Talisay City will be on March 21.
