MANILA – Negros Occidental-based Dynamic FC reclaimed the crown of the Negros Occidental Football Association (NOFA) Cup after a 5-0 upset over LGU Barotac at the Sta. Maria football field in Talisay City.
LGU Barotac almost drew first blood in the match. They were able to penetrate into the defense of Dynamic but their attempt went far post as the host took advantage on the counter for the opening goal.
It was all Dynamic since then as they went on to score three more goals on Sunday against the paltry defense of LGU Barotac to establish a 4-0 advantage heading into the halftime break.
As the rain continued to water the pitch in the second half and made it difficult for the players to run the ball, the Negrense squad was able to deliver the fifth goal of the match sealing the crown.
MVP awardee Rey Allen Rico led Dynamic FC’s performance alongside Best Defender Franz Liansing, Best Midfielder Elijah Pabalate and Best Goalkeeper Anzbert Tayapad. Best Striker John Gaverza anchored LGU Barotac.
On their way to the championship round, Dynamic FC defeated Don Bosco of Cebu, while LGU Barotac scored an impressive win over Golden Harvest.
The NOFA Cup, an annual nationwide football tournament dedicated to grassroots players, have drawn 24 squads from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao in its fourth edition this year./PN
