MANILA –Negros Occidental Football Association (NOFA) settled for a runner-up finish in the Philippine Football Federation (PFF) U-15 Boys National Championship after suffering a 1-0 defeat to National Capital Region Football Association (NCRFA) at the PFF National Training Center in Cavite on Feb. 28.
Dominic Tom’s glancing header via a cross by substitute Rodrigo Marinas III in the 96th minute was the one that broke the deadlock for NCRFA to finish the tournament with a complete sweep.
The lone conversion of the game gave the NCRFA team captain not just the tournament’s top goal scorer award with nine conversions, but also the Most Valuable Player trophy. His teammate Jose Gonzales was hailed as the best goalkeeper, while Martin Merino was named the best defender.
NOFA will not be left empty-handed as Dominic Austin Dreyfus was adjudged as the best midfielder of the competition.
Meanwhile, Davao South Regional Football Association salvaged a third place finish after dominating Mount Apo Regional Football Association, 5-1.
The match was sent to extra time following the exchange of goals from Davao’s Uriel Dalapo and Mount Apo’s Almaigne Kurt Sarip. Davao was only hailed victorious after it pulled away on consecutive hits from Saidamin Bacol, Dalapo and Gian Paolo Sartirani.
