NEGROS Occidental-based football teams dominated the 6th Ceres Cup, which was played simultaneously at the Ceres FC North Field, Sta. Maria Football Field and Carlos Hilado Memorial State College football field – all in Talisay City, Negros Occidental.
Bayawan City FC emerged as the winner in the boys 18 category after defeating Don Bosco Cebu in the knockout championship match. Clyde Tuvalles was hailed as the MVP.
EVFC, meanwhile, was the champion in the ladies open category when it edged Footbolleras in the gold medal match. Irish Navaja was named as the category’s MVP winner.
Makoto FC-A, on the other hand, clinched the men’s open category championship when it defeated Ceres-La Salle in the finals. Yushi Yamamoto of Makota was named as the MVP.
San Carlos City Selection A was the champion in the mixed 12 category after defeating Ateneo Eaglets, while STI-West Negros University topped the Sagay FC in boys 15 finale.
In girls 16, San Carlos clinched the crown at the expense of Ateneo de Cebu in the finals. The Boys 16 was ruled by Don Bosco Cebu with Kamil Amirul being named as MVP.
Dolphins FC, meanwhile, was hailed as champion in mixed 9 when it defeated Tubungan FC. Rovers Davao claimed the gold medal in boys 11 by edging out Guissefe FC-Cebu.
Close to 500 teams from across the country competed in the Ceres Cup, which aims at giving football enthusiasts the opportunity to foster and exhibit sportsmanship in a competitive, safe, and friendly environment./PN
