NEGROS Occidental-based taekwondo jins captured 29 medals, including 16 gold, in the 2018 Visayas Cluster Taekwondo Championships recently at SM City Bacolod.
Ashley and Ethan Chavez and Zane and Zach Olivo of St. Scholastica’s Academy, along with Adrian Galinea and Zyx Geocadin of University of St. La Salle, and Tyrone Yao and Hugo Dagnot of Bacolod Tay Tung High School, captured a gold medal each.
Jan Mickael Casana and Alyan Rodrigaso of Riverside College, Inc. also had a gold medal each. The same is true with siblings Christian and Arthur Monasque of Christian Venture Academy.
Other gold medal winners are Joshua Dieta of Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod, Denmark Gabayeron of Emiliano Lizares National High School, Luigi Escasinas of Murcia National High School, and Jeazel Talaver of Handumanan National High School.
The delegation’s silver medals were courtesy of Dondy Santillan and Eevo Geocadin of USLS, Erika Galang and Josh Italia of RCI, Jonathan Seguera of Murcia NHS, and Al Frances Reyes of La Consolacion College-Bacolod.
Bronze medalists include Thea Galila of St. Benilde School, Inc., Bianca Elbanbuena of La Castellana National High School and Elynne Vic Pano of Negros Occidental High School.
Adrian Galinea of USLS Integrated School had silver in poomsae while Shanen Matti of St. Scholastica’s, Eirah Sumaria of St. Joseph School-La Salle and Seguera took bronze in the same event.
Around 400 athletes from Panay, Cebu and Negros took part in the two-day competition sanctioned by the Philippine Taekwondo Association./PN
