BACOLOD City – Silay City still has the most number of dengue cases in Negros Occidental with 401. Talisay City followed with 322 and Bago City, 313.

The cases were among the total 3,921 recorded from Jan. 1 to Sept. 10 this year — a 182-percent increase from the 1,392 cases in the same period in 2015 — Provincial Health Office (PHO) records showed.

Deaths related to the mosquito-borne viral disease remain at 18.

Most of the patients were males (2,075). Female patients numbered 1,846.

Majority of the cases belong to the 11 to 20 year old age group, the PHO said.

Talisay City had the highest number of deaths with three.

Two deaths were recorded in each of the cities of San Carlos, Silay, La Carlota, and Bago.

Sagay City and EB Magalona, Hinigaran, Hinoba-an, La Castellana, Moises Padilla, and Murcia towns have one death each.
Cases in other affected local governments are as follows: Himamaylan City, 305; Cauayan, 283; Kabankalan City, 274; Isabela, 217; La Carlota City, 172; San Carlos City, 157; Hinoba-an, 119; Sagay City, 118; Binalbagan, 106; Sipalay City, 106;

Hinigaran, 91; Victorias City, 88; EB Magalona, 86; Pontevedra, 85; Murcia, 83; Ilog, 78; Valladolid, 75; Moises Padilla, 59; Calatrava, 59; San Enrique, 56;

Cadiz City, 47; Manapla, 46; Escalante City, 38; La Castellana, 38; Salvador Benedicto, 38; Candoni, 24; Pulupandan, 20; and Toboso, 17.
The PHO continues to conduct dengue-control programs, such as providing larvicides and insecticides to affected local governments.
It is also conducting entomological survey to identify vectors and dengue vector management through chemical fumigation in barangays with clustering of cases, or three or more cases within four consecutive weeks./PN
