MANILA – Negros Occidental’s Little League and Junior League teams clinched spots in the Asia-Pacific Regional Softball Championships after ruling the Philippine Series Finals on Saturday in Cabuyao, Laguna.
The Lizvi Jalandoni-mentored Negrense softbelles dominated the Cavite squad 13-3 in the championship match to retain the Little League title. Bohol settled for a third place finish.
Negros’ Junior Softball team, on the other hand, walloped the Pasig team 3-1 to clinch the championship. Bulacan landed on third place.
“I just want to thank everyone who believed in us and gave the young Negrense girls the opportunity to compete in the Philippine Series and earn another shot in the Regional Softball Championships in Singapore,” Jalandoni said.
Meanwhile, unlike their younger counterparts, the Negrense Senior Leaguers failed to keep their title after losing to Tanauan 3-0 in the finals match. Bulacan finished on third place.
